Net Manager Network Managing, Engineering and Administration with an eye toward security. Best practices meets the real world! |
Wednesday, December 10, 2003 I saw this this morning over at eWeek: Security Experts Warn of New Way to Attack Windows. Seems that the messenger bug has more holes in it (a new attack vector via UDP). The strange thing was the quotes attributed to Core. They stated that even if you had blocked the port at the firewall, you were still vulnerable. Then the article goes on to say that this is a new vulnerability and the patch doesn't fix it (contrary to what MS says elsewere). There's very little about this on any of the lists or sites that I routinely check, and I couldn't even find a sheet on it over at Core. I wonder if this article is premature, or just poorly written perhaps. posted by David | 12/10/2003 07:16:00 PM |
