Here's a nice Network World article on Tallying the true cost of spam. It talks about a 300 person Law firm and the problems that they had with SPAM. I'd have to say that it's markedly similar to our experiences here (we're around 400 folks, but the rest is about the same). We outsourced to Postini and that made a significant reduction in the amount of SPAM that we received. The dollar figures are a bit high, but not outrageously high.
