Here's the latest on the Novemeber patch releases from Microsoft: Microsoft releases Windows, Office fixes. Am I the only one who thinks this change to monthly releases is just for the PR spin. Nope, this quote: "It think it is more to get Microsoft's name out of the news," he said. "It is good marketing but lousy security." sure sounds like someone else has figured it out. I also realized this morning that by doing what they are doing, it's a lot more difficult to figure out when these vulns were discovered and therefore how long they took to fix. The big vulnerability this month was discovered by eEye on September 15th. The news media should be asking why it took so long for it to be fixed, instead it's just not even thought about. I wonder if this ties into the SlashDot article yesterday about Microsoft supposedly was going to point out the Linux Security issues and show how they are better. Well hiding the facts doesn't help anything but the PR spin, something Microsoft is very good at.
