This may sound strange, but I kinda hope that the Princeton student that showed how to circumvent CD copy protection by using the Shift key is actually sued. This article on cnet (Student faces suit over key to CD locks) talks about how the company is considering both criminal and civil suits. As the student points out: "If pressing the Shift key is a violation of the DMCA, then the law needs to be changed." If this goes to court, along with all the RIAA abuse, there may be a call to change or gut the DMCA (high time).

UPDATE: According to this article in the Daily Princetonian the company backed down from the threats and won't sue.
