Wednesday, October 15, 2003 In a shift from their normal once a week, Microsoft releases monthly security fixes. I'm not sure how to take this. On the one hand I can understand the need to help streamline the process but vulnerabilities are by their nature not something that you can just put off to the end of the month fixes. This seems to mean that many of the vulnerabilities will just take longer to get fixed because they will be unavailable to be fixed because MS hasn't released them. I also wonder how much of this will just go underground? It's also great for MS because they only get a once a month "sound bite" for vulns that will be in too great a number to garner a good headline. This might be great for MS, great for the Fortune 500, but the rest of us I'm not so sure of. posted by David | 10/15/2003 05:32:00 PM |
