From the "Ooops, we didn't do our homework" department: Dell $38m Supercomputer [not] More Costly than VT's G5s. The original article talks about how Apple pulled off a cost coup with their supercomputer at VT. Turns out the $38 million at the University of Texas was for a lot of other things, including a new "Center" (which some have taken as a new building, but it could be just a renovation of an existing structure). The actual costs of the Dell hardware was around $3 million, much less than the $5.2 million that VT paid.
