Wednesday, August 20, 2003 For those of you wondering about any relationship between Internet viruses, worms and the power blackout you can put your fears to rest as the Power companies have everything under control. Oh, yea there's this article over at Security Focus you might want to look at if your not convinced: Slammer worm crashed Ohio nuke plant network. Interesting reading! There's been a lot of discussion in the mailing lists about the SCADA devices being suceptable to RPC issues (the same one in Blaster!). I imagine that several things worked together to cause this outage and after reading some of the discussion and the article above you tend to wonder if it wasn't at least some kind of factor involved. posted by David | 8/20/2003 01:34:00 PM |
