![]() Wednesday, July 23, 2003 For those of you into Pen Testing, or Vulnerability analysis, this cNet article is for you: Cracking Windows passwords in seconds. Basically the research involves creating a large array of passwords and then doing a lookup of the table to see if a password matches. Pretty simple and basic that only applies to Windows passwords (both LANMan and NTHash). Most other OSs add a random element to the password to enhance the password. The article does offer one suggestion, add a non-alphanumeric character, which will add complexity to the stored password (requiring a larger array of passwords). posted by David | 7/23/2003 10:59:00 AM |
