cNet has a story on the new P4 chip, as well as the Power PC chip in this article: From Intel: New P4 chip, Itanium plans. I've not seen the new 3.x P4 chips, but I've seen some of their Xeon 2.8s. IMHO, the speed is great but it's being hindered by an underdeveloped bus to the memory and peripherials as well as a smaller sized cache. The next get of chips should help in this regard (isn't that always the case :).
