Net Manager Network Managing, Engineering and Administration with an eye toward security. Best practices meets the real world! |
Friday, May 02, 2003 One of my co-workers just came back from Networld+Interop. He saw two fundamental things: 1) Windows 2003 Server and Exchange 2003 Server are mature solid products, with all the bells and whistles you need. 2) The Penguin (aka Linux) is going to be a major competitor to Microsoft in the years ahead. He was impressed with the quaility and robustness of the products that Linux has to offer. He did talk about Red Hat rasing prices, and Linux being more costly as it becomes more user friendly. I see this more as support costs (where most of the Linux vendors make their revenue) are rising rather than the base prices, but those are rasing modestly as well. posted by David | 5/02/2003 04:51:00 PM |
