I've been playing around a little bit with Knoppix, and have found this CD to be one of the most valuable tools I've seen in a long time! I've tried several other rescue CDs and found them valuable, but in limited scope. They all seem to be about getting to the raw part of the OS. Don't get me wrong there are plenty of times you need a tool like that, but other times you need a tool like Knoppix. I'm not sure it's in the post that I put on the 21st, but it includes things like: cdrecord, Ethereal, Nessus, Samba, etc. When you boot up, if your on a network like mine, you get dynamically assigned an IP address and you can start surfing. If the PC has a burner, just grab what you want off the HD and burn a CD. Browse to a Windows NT/2000 Server and copy away to your hearts content. Scan a network, sure, let me just drop this CD in any old thing and start Nessus up, or just run nmap from the command line.

Oh, did I mention you can create your own custom versions of Knoppix?

Well, if your wondering, I'm impressed!
