eWeek has a nice section devoted to the Opteron launch. Opteron is AMD's 64-bit chip. Instead of being a new breed of chip like Intel's Itanium, it's a hybrid that can still run the existing Pentium 32-bit software, and new 64-bit software. Suse already has their version of Linux setup to roll with the launch. Check out the eWeek article(s) here.
